Continue Watching

Overview

An important aspect of the Freeform user's experience was a seamless viewing experience between episodes of a series. This meant that it would always be quick and easy for the user to pick up from where they left off.

Continue Watching Row

The Continue Watching row is featured prominently at the top of a user's feed whenever they are in the middle of watching a movie or series. It will not appear if there's nothing to be shown. They are two different scenarios that makes content eligible to appear in a user's row:

  • The user is midway through the content and picks up from where they left off
  • The user finished the last episode and the next episode is available

New Episode Releases

If a user is caught up with a series that releases an episode every week, ShowMS will immediately add the next released episode to the Continue Watching row so that they can easily find it.

Cross-Device Viewing

ShowMS provides users who are logged in a Continue Watching experience that they can start and stop across all of their devices.

98% Completion Rule

ShowMS will recognize if a user has finished an episode, even if that means that they have stopped the video before the credits sequence. The user's Continue Watching row will then show the next episode in the series instead of the episode with only the credits sequence to complete.
