The platform includes the ability to manage both the content available and its associated meta-data.
We draw in a feed of available content via the VPPO Sync, however we quickly found the need to be able to override and augment this in order to:
- Correct upstream errors
- Improve quality of data
- Add additional data to support new features
In general, the platform operates on the principle of drawing in key data from the sync, but then allowing much of that to be easily overriden in the CMS. This allows new content and content availability changes to flow through automatically, while also allowing a range of richer user experiences and lower management overhead.
Roughly speaking, things are broken out into management of data at Show level, the Movie level and the Section level. The first two are fairly obvious, while Sections are used to support particular programming initiatives like 31 Nights of Halloween and 25 Days of Christmas.
